Sheila Elias’ new photography is a bold departure from the paintings for which she has been recognized as on of Miami’s most important artist. Reflecting a perpetually curious and adventuresome mind, the combination of photographic and digitally applied imagery of Sheila’s latest work fairly erupts of the surface with powerful undertones of a society in turmoil with the promise of redemption just over the horizon. The glowing colors, sometimes feminist (or feminine) imagery, and sheer beauty of the work signal an important breakthrough for this artist at a significant moment in her career.
